Just three short blocks off of the Plaza, STREAMSIDE STAY provides easy access to downtown Arcata. This two bedroom apartment is situated above the offices of an environmental consulting firm and overlooks Jolly Giant Creek.

Constructed in 2004, the building is a model of "green architecture" renowned in ecology-minded Arcata for its design incorporating environmentally friendly materials and solar energy self sufficiency. Although conventional in appearance and amenities, it is a showcase of sustainable construction.

The decor is simple, clean,  and contemporary, in a neutral color palette of cream, taupe and blue, enhanced by natural fibers as well as imagery inspired by nature.

 

 

 

Owners of this property, McBain and Trush, environmental consultants specializing in river restoration, incorporated into their building design a plan to "daylight" the creek running across their property. This stream, enclosed underground in a culvert since the 1940's, was uncovered, debris hauled away, and restored to a natural setting. See Times-Standard article.

A breakfast bar with stool seating is an island  separating the kitchen from the living room. STREAMSIDE STAY features natural linoleum floors, recycled fiber carpets, solar heated water for domestic use and in-floor radiant heating, solar electricity, Energy Star™ appliances, and certified Smart Wood™ redwood decking harvested from the Arcata community forest.

Steps away from its off-street parking area, STREAMSIDE STAY is accessed through a secure gate leading up a private stairway to the second level deck. This is a bright and spacious apartment with many large windows,  vaulted ceilings, and an open floor plan for the living room, kitchen, and dining area.

 

STREAMSIDE STAY has two bedrooms. One with Queen size bed the other with double bed.

A two night minimum is required on weekends.  STREAMSIDE STAY is self-housekeeping and may be rented as a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment suite. It is an ideal choice for friends or families traveling together who need separate private sleeping arrangements. It also may be rented by two parties (i.e., business colleagues), with a shared bath and the kitchen, dining, and living room used as common areas.  All linens and towels are furnished.

STREAMSIDE STAY is a smoke-free environment.  Pets may be accommodated, however this is subject to prior approval and agreement. Pet fee is $25.00 per night up to a total of $125.00 to cover additional housekeeping required when pets stay.


DEPOSIT: 
A deposit of $200.00 is required for stays of two weeks or longer and for any reservation booked for parents of small children. The deposit is fully refundable following checkout if accommodation is left in good condition and housekeeping does not exceed that normally expected to ready unit for check in.


STREAMSIDE STAY
From the South:  Take HWY 101 north around Humboldt Bay to the first Arcata exit (Samoa Boulevard).  Take the Samoa off ramp exit and continue west in the right hand lane up to I Street.  Turn right on I Street and continue up to 7th Street.  Turn left on 7th Street, and proceed one-half block to a two story gray-blue building on the right.   Turn right into the parking area.  The wrought iron entry gate is to the left of the parking area. 

From the North: Take HWY 101 to the Arcata exit (Sunset Avenue).  After the stop sign, proceed through the intersection, (you will be on H Street) and continue in the right hand lane to 7th Street.  Turn right on 7th Street, cross I Street and proceed one-half block to a two story gray-blue building on the right.   Turn right into the parking area.  The wrought iron entry gate is to the left of the parking area.
